Before

Before our collaboration, there was no automated or manual testing specialist. The product owner or developers conducted all testing, leading to several shortcomings, such as inconsistent testing procedures and missed defects. Recognizing the need for a more structured and thorough approach, Prolinker partnered with our team to enhance their testing capabilities and ensure the reliability of their platform.

Our specialist provided a comprehensive approach to setting up the testing process from scratch for Prolinker, automating the entire functionality of their website. This process involved creating testing documentation and implementing a structured testing procedure to guarantee flexible testing across different platforms.

Our team utilized a variety of tools to ensure the quality and efficiency of testing.

  • We employed WebdriverIO + TypeScript to create robust and scalable automated tests, ensuring comprehensive testing of all functional aspects of the platform. 
  • Postman was used to send specific test requests, such as closing a project or receiving the latest email or text message. 
  • GitHub served as the version control system, with GitHub Actions automating the continuous integration and deployment workflows, ensuring effective code management and deployment. 
  • Jira was utilized for project management and bug tracking, streamlining workflow processes and fostering collaboration within the team. 

Features Of The Project

  • The platform had separate versions tailored for different countries, requiring simultaneous testing of these versions
  • Different platforms with slight differences had to be tested, which required additional logic in the tests
  • Established manual procedures to manage features without API support, ensuring comprehensive testing coverage
  • Introduced and executed organized bug reporting and ticket management protocols to streamline issue tracking and resolution

Results

  • 320 test cases were written, and 317 were automated. It increased efficiency and allowed for faster execution of test cases, saving time and resources. 
  • 80 bug reports were created. It contained detailed descriptions of identified defects, including their nature, severity, and potential impact on the platform functionality. 
  • The increased platform stability ensures smoother operation and fewer disruptions for users. Thorough testing and bug fixing instill greater trust in the platform's reliability, improving user satisfaction and retention. As a result, the client received a significantly more stable platform and an increased number of working versions.
