About Company
MentorMind is an education technology platform, focusing on preparing students for college entrance exams, including SAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement tests. Their courses are guided by experienced tutors using adaptive learning technologies to help students reach their full potential.
Before
Before engaging with our testing services, MentorMind's platform was launched without a comprehensive testing process. Manual functional testing was managed by the project manager, and unit and integration testing were performed by developers.
Challenges and Solutions
Our team was responsible for developing and automating regression test cases for the platform. During this process, we encountered and resolved several challenges:
Challenges | Solutions |
---|---|
Video and audio content required thorough testing | Manual testing was employed to maintain control and ensure the quality of video and audio content |
It was necessary to test many quizzes | Developed specialized methods for various quiz question types, enabling automatic interaction based on the format, including text input, multiple-choice selection, drag-and-drop, and dropdown selection |
Diverse user interaction processes in quizzes needed thorough testing | Utilized data generation and randomization techniques to test the software effectively under various conditions |
Technologies, Tools, and Approaches
For automation, we utilized Python + PyTest, adopting the Robot Framework for enhanced test automation capabilities. The project also used Docker to ensure consistent testing environments. Regression tests were documented using TestRail, and smoke testing was conducted manually. Jenkins was used to facilitated continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), improving the workflow between testers and developers by automating the testing processes. This integration allowed for quick identification and resolution of issues, maintaining high product quality and efficiency.
Features Of The Project
Testing the MentorMind platform involved several unique features.
- Adaptive Learning Algorithms Testing involved extensive testing to ensure accurate adjustments based on individual student performance, with verification through simulations of various student profiles.
- Interactive Quizzes Testing utilized customized scripts for automation to ensure correct functionality, accommodating multiple formats like multiple choice and drag-and-drop, which required tailored automation.
- Video and Audio Content Testing was performed manually to maintain quality across different browsers.
- Real-time Analytics and Feedback Testing ensured the accuracy and responsiveness of data capture and display features.
- Cross-Platform Compatibility Testing involved thorough testing to ensure consistent performance and user experience across various browsers.
Results
- 300+ bug reports were created, highlighting our attention to detail and ensuring the platform's stability.
- 151 test cases were automated, improving testing efficiency and consistency, which allowed for faster issue identification and resolution.
- Usability testing was also conducted, resulting in an improved user interface and experience, ensuring the product's convenience and effectiveness for users.
- There was an increase in the number of downloads, indicating positive user engagement and platform usage.
