Securing Trust and Tailoring Solutions: Enhancing User Experience at CoverNest

CoverNest innovates within the insurance sector by offering customized solutions to meet individual customer needs. Their platform simplifies the insurance selection process, making it personal, precise, and accessible. 

Before our involvement, CoverNest's testing efforts were conducted by a small internal team, primarily focused on manual checks and sporadic automated tests. This approach led to irregularities in performance and usability, which were becoming increasingly apparent as the platform expanded. 

The client tasked our two QA engineers with establishing a robust testing framework to enhance platform reliability, improve user interface consistency across devices, and ensure the security of user data. The goal was to transform the quality assurance process into a systematic, continuous cycle supporting rapid scaling and integration of new features. 

During the project, we encountered several challenges unique to its features, which we are eager to share with you. 

The project leveraged Playwright for its robust browser automation capabilities, which were crucial for end-to-end testing. Other key tools included: 

• Playwright + JS for automating both functional and non-functional testing across different environments.
• LoadRunner to assess and enhance performance under various load conditions. 
• OWASP ZAP for continuous security vulnerability assessments. 
• JIRA for integration with user feedback mechanisms to manage and resolve bugs efficiently. 

A standout feature of this project was the integration of OWASP ZAP to enforce stringent security protocols, which are essential in the insurance industry, where data sensitivity is paramount. This tool was systematically employed to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities, ensuring that the platform adhered to the highest standards of data protection required by regulatory bodies and customer expectations. 

Furthermore, we introduced a customized rule engine designed to automate the evaluation of insurance policies against user profiles. This ensures personalized policy recommendations. The rule engine dynamically adjusts the offerings based on real-time data, enhancing user engagement and satisfaction by providing tailored insurance solutions. 

The results were impressive and had a substantial impact on both the platform's efficiency and customer satisfaction: 

• Reduction of production bugs by 60% within six months. 
• Created and automated over 200 test cases, covering critical functionalities tailored to user needs. 
• Decrease in user-reported issues by 50%, thanks to the new real-time tracking system. 
• Improved application load time by 40%, enhancing user interaction during peak periods.
